Dillon Beach Resort is looking for a skilled and passionate Deli/Pastry chef to join our team. This position will be responsible for deserts & pastries in our Coastal Kitchen restaurant, as well as oversee the grab-n-go program in our General Store. This includes the creation and preparation of simple sandwiches, salads and other prepared meals. This is an exciting opportunity to showcase your culinary skills and creativity in a fun and easy going restaurant.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and bake a wide range of pastries, including cakes, cookies, pies, and breads
- Decorate pastries using various techniques to create visually appealing presentations
- Follow recipes and ensure consistency in taste, texture, and appearance
- Monitor inventory levels and order ingredients as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, following food safety and sanitation guidelines
- Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations and timely service
- Assist with other food preparation tasks as assigned
Experience:
- Previous experience working in a pastry or bakery setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of pastry techniques, ingredients, and equipment
- Ability to follow recipes accurately and adapt them as needed
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high standards of quality
Skills:
- Food production: Experience in producing high-quality pastries and desserts in a professional kitchen setting.
- Customer service: Ability to provide excellent customer service by ensuring that all pastry orders meet or exceed customer expectations.
- Food preparation: Proficient in preparing ingredients, measuring quantities accurately, and following recipes.
- Restaurant: Familiarity with the operations of a restaurant kitchen, including teamwork, communication, and time management.
- Knife skills: Proficiency in using knives for various pastry preparation tasks.
- Pastry: Strong knowledge of different pastry techniques, such as dough preparation, baking, decorating, and plating.
- Culinary: Understanding of culinary principles and techniques applicable to pastry cooking.
- Food industry: Familiarity with the standards and practices of the food industry, including food safety and sanitation.
- Package: Ability to package and present pastries attractively for display or takeout orders.
- Bake: Experience in baking a variety of pastries, including cakes, cookies, pies, and breads.
